What are student surveys and student voice?
Student surveys are structured ways for schools to gather the views, experiences and wellbeing data of their pupils. Student voice is the broader practice of listening to what students think about their education and acting on it. Ofsted expects schools to demonstrate that they actively seek and respond to pupil feedback as part of the Personal Development and Leadership and Management judgements. Choice Voting runs the full cycle: survey design, anonymous collection, wellbeing analysis, safeguarding flagging, outcome tracking and inspection-ready reporting across the academic year.
Student voice is not a nice-to-have. It is an inspection expectation.
Ofsted probes whether leaders understand their pupils' experiences. Not just whether you asked, but what you heard, what you did about it, and whether it made a difference. That is the evidence gap Choice Voting closes.

Students spoke up. Here is what changed.
Collecting student views is the easy part. The hard part is proving you listened, acted and measured the impact. The "You Said, We Did" tracker links every piece of student feedback to a decision, an action and a measurable outcome.
Students felt the behaviour policy was applied inconsistently across different teachers.
Introduced a standard behaviour framework with consistent consequences and a staff CPD session on fair application.
"Behaviour policy is fair" score increased from 68% to 76% in the follow-up survey.
Year 9 students wanted a quiet space available at break times for when they felt overwhelmed.
Converted a disused classroom into a supervised wellbeing room, open every break and lunchtime.
"Happy at school" score for Year 9 increased from 74% to 83%. Room used by an average of 12 students per day.
