What are school surveys and consultations?

School surveys and consultations are structured ways for schools to gather views from parents, staff, pupils and governors on matters that affect the school community. They range from parent satisfaction surveys and staff wellbeing checks to formal policy consultations on uniform, behaviour or curriculum changes. Ofsted expects schools to demonstrate that they actively seek, listen to and act on stakeholder feedback. Choice Voting runs the full cycle: survey, analysis, reporting and outcome tracking, producing inspection-ready evidence across the year.

Surveys collect opinions. Evidence changes inspection outcomes.

Every school runs surveys. Very few can show what they did with the results, whether it made a difference, and prove it to an inspector at 48 hours' notice. That is the gap Choice Voting closes.

School surveys and consultations: the questions schools ask us most.

What kinds of surveys can we run?
Anything your school needs to ask. Parent satisfaction, staff wellbeing, pupil voice, curriculum feedback, policy consultations, uniform changes, meals feedback, transition surveys, and more. Choice Voting includes pre-built templates for the most common use cases, and a blank-canvas builder for everything else.
How is this different from a standalone survey tool?
A survey tool collects responses. Choice Voting brings your elections, surveys, consultations and polls into one system, analyses the data, benchmarks it against national averages, tracks it over time, and produces a signed stakeholder engagement report. It also links feedback to actions and outcomes through the "You Said, We Did" tracker. Everything in one place, one evidence pack.
Can staff surveys be anonymous?
Yes. Any survey can be set to anonymous. When anonymity is enabled, the respondent's identity is never linked to their answers, even in the audit log. This is critical for staff wellbeing and safeguarding surveys where honest feedback depends on confidentiality.
What evidence will Ofsted want to see from our surveys?
Inspectors probe how leaders seek stakeholder views, how they respond to those views, and what impact the response had. A signed stakeholder engagement report showing your surveys, your response rates, your trend data, your safeguarding indicators and your "You Said, We Did" outcomes gives inspectors the triangulated evidence they look for under Leadership and Management.
Can we share reports with governors and trustees?
Yes. Reports are exportable as signed PDFs and shareable via secure links. Governors, trustees, the local authority or inspectors can each receive a tailored view filtered by date range, stakeholder group or event type.
How quickly can we get started?
Under five minutes for a school using Wonde or a supported MIS. Pick a pre-built template, load your parent or staff list, customise the questions if you want, and launch. We walk you through the first one.
